Fred Thompson, actor and former U.S. Senator from Tennessee, stops in town tonight for a fund-raiser for his supposed presidential campaign. Perhaps the Sheffield-born candidate will even drive his trademark red pickup truck, denoting his folksy aw-shucks ways. And what kind of folksy aw-shucks fund-raiser will take place at the Mountain Brook home of construction company president Jim Cooper? The kind that costs $1,000 per couple.
