‘Top Model’: Get me off this crazy thing

Fierce, but in a different way.
We’ve followed Kendal Brown of Northport on her journey toward becoming “America’s Next Top Model” for the last 4 weeks. With each new episode, we’ve watched her progress from a girl with “potential” to a model who seems to know how to pose (and not act the fool) in front of the camera.
Can she keep up the momentum? And can she hold her own with … a masked wrestler? And just who did leave the bobby pins in the dishwasher?
Find out, after the jump …
The runway challenge? Walking on a moving conveyor belt, which should make for great physical comedy.
Kendal readies herself for the task …
… but loses a shoe on the conveyor belt.
(I love how the audience member sitting behind runway coach J. Alexander gazes at the shoe so lovingly.)
Despite the mishap, Kendal makes sure to remind us that she’s “still fierce” and possibly studied at the Jack Nicholson School for the Advancement of Eyebrows.

Kacey Leggett wins the conveyor belt challenge! (She doesn’t seem too happy about it, does she?)
Kacey, left, and Lexie Tomchek fight about who left whose bobby pins in the dishwasher or something. Note the photo of host Tyra Banks in the background. What a perfect reaction: Gasp! Zut alors!
For the photo shoot challenge, the models pose with wrestlers like Shamu Jr., whose catchphrase is “Welcome to my office.” His business is whooping butt, and business is goo-o-o-o-od.
Kendal screams and squeals, trying to channel some aggression, but creative director Jay Manuel isn’t buying it.

The judges say Kendal’s photo lacks emotion and question her talent. This photo lands her in the Bottom 3.
Poor, weird Ann Ward takes another amazing photo and comes away with best one for the fourth week in a row, a “Top Model” record.
Lexie is sent home for this piece of dreckitude.
Birmingham writer Nadria Tucker (@NadriaTucker) dabbles in magical realism and the Southern gothic tradition, but always keeps an eye toward the future of Southern fiction. Her award-winning fiction is character driven and sometimes dark, but usually plays fair. Her work has been featured in publications such as The2ndHand, Lipstick and Birmingham Magazine.
“America’s Next Top Model” airs at 7 p.m. Wednesdays on CW 21.
Is Ann the one to beat this season? Tell us in the comments.

- Kendal: “Every time I went up to the panel, my whole body would shake, but you get the hang of being around (the judges).”
