If you can’t come with us this time, please consider a gift instead. This list represents items needed at Hands on New Orleans for operations, staff and volunteers. If you’ll bring the items to a drop-off location, we’ll take them with us to Biloxi and New Orleans in April. (to be updated with list from Hands on Gulf Coast)

Drop-off deadline is April 4, 2007.

(Note: Gift cards can be mailed to Magic City Mission, c/o Hands on Birmingham, 601 19th St. N., Ste. 205, Birmingham, AL 35203. Remember, all other items must be delivered to drop-off locations below.)

What’s needed?

  • Tools
    • Metal drywall mud pans
    • Drywall mud knives
    • Retractable-blade utility knives
    • Tape measures (Stanley, at least 25 foot)
    • Trash cans (without wheels)
    • Paint strainer (to snap into 5-gal. buckets and pouring paint through, like cheesecloth)
    • Hammer tackers, with staples that fit
    • Staple guns, with staples that fit
    • Framing hammers (22 oz. or 24 oz.)
    • Fubars (a five-in-one tool … example)
    • Miscellaneous plumbing and electrical drill bits
    • Heavy-duty two-way or three-way splitter for extension cords
    • Hardhats, with the turn-knob adjustment in the back
    • Safety goggles/glasses
    • Tool belts (with two pouches)
    • Pneumatic palm-nailer
    • Air compressor
    • Drywall guns (similar to a drill, Black & Decker preferred)
    • Heavy-duty circular saws (Skill brand with worm-drive design)
    • Respirator filters
