Someday, we’ll find it, the Condi connection

By

… the lovers, the neocons and me.

The trip to Tuscaloosa didn’t quite go according to plan.

For my trouble — hunting for parking, standing in line for an hour (until well after the speech started) — I couldn’t get in to see Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice speak at the University of Alabama. Even with additional seating in separate rooms, where diplomacy devotees (or “dipdots,” as they like to be called) could watch on video feeds, they had to turn what looked to be about a thousand people away.

Heck, I could’ve stayed home for the webcast instead.

And all it cost me was gas money, a few hours. Oh and possible front suspension damage to my car, after barreling over a metal utility truck discard thoughtfully placed on the onramp to I-359.

But please, no spoilers. I want to find out for myself where she thinks the WMDs are, how well the war in Iraq is going, and what’s up with that ‘do.

Saturday, she’ll be in town to visit the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute and the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church to spit on unite with black folk.

But before that, she’s up for coin toss duty at the Alabama-Tennessee game. Heads we invade Iran; tails we bomb Iran.

In other news, George W. Bush hates yellow people.
