Living in the past: The autumnal race
By Wade Kwon
Ah, September. The weather turned cooler, as did all things Birmingham. We’re happy to take one last look at the best that 30 days hath, um, hath.
- Lyn and Karlyn, a couple of moms from Birmingham who traveled from Seattle to Beijing to somewhere in Mongolia for fun. Oh, and for $1 million. Welcome to “The Amazing Race.”
- The reason for this blog … the reason for my career … the reason to push for media competition … R.I.P. Birmingham Post-Herald, one year later.
- Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival, one of our favorite events, brought another terrific slate of films and filmmakers for an eighth time downtown. We presented reviews and more, and more than any other news outlet in town. Because we care.
- Our continuing coverage of “Two-a-Days” follows the saga of battling Tuscaloosa County, preparing for Homecoming and the mighty girth of Coach Propst.
- Five years since 9/11: a tribute to the fallen, plus a Wade’s 101 on how we’ve coped.
- Want to know about one of our favorite causes? Take five minutes to learn about a special program at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Birmingham.
- If you missed Artwalk 2006, you missed a great festival, great party and an array of talented folks. And if you missed our coverage, you missed our map guide to every single exhibiting artist, more than 100 of them. Because we really care.
- Highlights of my other blog, Wade Kwon.com, because it ain’t gonna read itself.
