Happy Vice Presidential Debate Day! Or, as it’s known around here, municipal runoff election day. Residents of five cities in Jefferson and Shelby Counties made their final picks for mayor:

Wade on Birmingham - Vote 2016

  • Chelsea: Tony Picklesimer;
  • Fairfield: Edward May II;
  • Graysville: Clark Julio Davis;
  • Hueytown: Steve Ware;
  • Trussville: Buddy Choat.

The general election takes place Nov. 6.

Vote 2016: Ballot harvest for October

Birmingham-area voters have a couple of elections this month as a prelude to the big ballot on Nov. 8.

Wade on Birmingham - Vote 2016Tuesday: Residents will pick mayors in these runoffs from August’s municipal elections:

  • Chelsea: Dale Neuendorf and Tony Picklesimer;
  • Fairfield: Edward May II and Johnnie Wyatt;
  • Graysville: Clark Julio Davis and Mary Sue Morgan;
  • Hueytown: Delor Baumann and Steve Ware;
  • Trussville: Buddy Choat and Anthony Montalto.

Also, city council runoff elections will take place in various suburbs. The winners will be sworn in Nov. 7.

Weld for Birmingham has a list of runoff candidates by city.

Oct. 18: Birmingham residents will vote for officers of the 99 neighborhood associations. The officers serve 2-year terms.

For more information on polling places, call Community Resource Services at (205) 297-8192. Or contact your neighborhood association president.

Polls will be open on both days from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
