I don’t know where to feel chastised and ashamed or defiantly proud.
Is this, like its namesake, a lament? If so, I’d like to know against what. Against the idea that writing fanfic is a waste of talent? Or that the stories ficcers produce are inaccessible? That lives are not improved and encouraged by fanfic? That it’s at best a morally and legally dubious enterprise likely to lead to poor social hygiene?
If you’ve just come across some bad stories, though, let me know what verse (and/or ship) you want to read and I’ll get you some recs.
Either way, I’d like to hear more of your opinion.

Um, 17 syllables about fanfic isn’t really worth getting too worked up about, is it?

No. I was trying to start a conversation, becuase I’m interested in what you have to say.

I secretly love fanfic, and like any other writing, there’s good and bad. I also love to tweak geeks, because I’m a geek at heart.
And it made for one of my fave haikus. Now if I could come up with a clever fanfic haiku …
Oh Spock, Kirk declared,
I grok you with all my heart.
Live long and do me.

That’s a great haiku! I love it.
